Beginner Quilting



Beginner 1 is designed for you if...  

  • you would love to learn how to make a quilt, but you're overwhelmed by all the supplies and steps necessary to complete one.
  • you have purchased all or many of the materials that you need to get started to make a quilt, but maybe you're not quite ready to make that first cut or sew that first seam.
  • you are not sure where to start buy would love to give a handmade gift to your friends and family.
  • you have made one or two quilts in the past buy are sef-taught and would like to grow your skills as a quilter.
  • you have followed free tutorials and videos but are still lost on techniques and what to do next.
If this is you, you will begin by learning the basics and so much more to make this first quilt and have the knowledge and tools to succesfully continue your quilting journey.

SLQ QUILTING SCHOOL’S BEGINNER SERIES 1 INCLUDES:

  •          4 sessions that show you literally EVERYTHING you need to make a quilt            from start to finish.
  •          A complete shopping guide for necessary and optional notions and                  fabric.
  •          A quilt pattern that is designed specifically for beginners with                          instruction on how to read the quilt pattern as we go.
  •          A student workbook to take notes and quickly refer to content.
  •          An in-person experience with other quilters to share your work                      and encourage each other. Each session builds on the other so                          that you can learn and master each skill before moving onto the next.

Skill Details:
Materials Included: Worktable, power source and well-lit room Community rotary cutting mats. If you would like one at your work station, you will need to bring a small one with you. Quilt pattern and Fabric kit
Requirements: You must supply Sewing machine with all necessary parts for sewing (pedal, power cord, etc.) Rotary cutter with new blade and rotary cutting ruler Thread for sewing ? 50wt neutral cotton thread is recommended Bobbins for your machine ? It is a good idea to have 2 bobbins already wound with thread before class. Pins for piecing Scissors Seam ripper Pencil for taking notes in your workbook Lunch and any snacks Water bottle Optional supplies ? Helpful, but not required Snips for cutting threads at your sewing machine Small cup or container for individual trash of small trims and threads by your machine
