Weaving 301 with Martha 2019

Weaving 301
Working with your fabrics
The third class is all about taking our fabric that we have just woven and turning it into a finished item. I will bring samples to the second class and you get to vote on what you would like to make with your fabric. This will give each student time to go home and weave a textured fabric for the project that you pick to do as a class. There will be some sewing involved with our machines. We will conquer the fear of cutting our hand-woven fabrics. I promise it will be fun!!

Each student must bring the following things to class:

  • A fabric roughly 15” x 25” they have woven either plain/tabby weave or a textured fabric using pick-up sticks.
  • A cotton lining the same size as the hand-woven fabric. This fabric will be seen so make sure you use something really cute to set off your weaving.
  • An iron-on stabilizer (the ladies at Bernina will help you find the stabilizer you need)
  • Rotary cutter
  • Quilting ruler for cutting fabrics
  • Sewing machine
  • Matching thread
  • Scissors
  • Walking Foot (optional)
  • Two decorative buttons
  • Project bag closure (please check out the ones I use on my project bags)
